Participants are invited to submit an essay that helps American Christians understand the tragedy unfolding in the Congo today and to present ideas for what could be done to stop the crisis and alleviate the suffering.  The winner of the contest will be awarded a trip to the region to assist in inaugurating their plan.

GUIDELINES:

Any age can enter the essay contest.  In the learning and information gathering process, please attempt to use and quote reliable sources when writing your essay.  Your essay must be 2,500 words or less, include your name, age, city and state, and answer these three questions:

1. What is happening in the DRCongo today?
2. Why does it matter?
3. What can be done?

We suggest you first start by praying for the people of Congo.  Get yourself acquainted with their beautiful culture and wrap your heart around their tragedies and pains.  Here are a couple links to World Relief’s website to help you get kick-started:

Once you’ve completed your essay, please email it to us by the DEADLINE DATE of April 10, 2009.

Thank you for taking the time to engage and respond in this particular way to a crisis that can be helped, and for using the power of your voice to cry out for Congo.

God bless,
